Why Does Indian Airplane Make Emergency Landing at Karachi Airport?

About 100 passengers on board have been safely transferred to the transit lounge.

A flight from New Delhi to Dubai has made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Saif-ur-Rehman confirmed that an oil leak was reported in a Boeing 737 flying from New Delhi, after which an emergency landing was made while repair work was underway.

The CAA official added that about 100 passengers on board have been safely transferred to the transit lounge.

Confirming the development, SpiceJet said on its Twitter page that the operating flight SG-11, which was en route from Delhi to Dubai, had been diverted to Karachi due to a technical glitch, where the plane made a safe landing. All the passengers are safe and sound here.

Also, according to a report by Indian broadcaster NDTV, SpiceJet flight B737 had taken off from Delhi Airport but due to a faulty indicator light, it was diverted to Karachi in the middle of the journey.

The NDTV report quoted the airline’s statement as saying that the Indian flight landed safely in Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked from the plane.

The report further stated that no emergency was declared during the landing of the flight and the plane landed as usual while there was no report of any technical malfunction in the plane before the flight.

The statement assured that an alternative plane has been sent to Karachi which will take the passengers to Dubai.

On the other hand, citing the Directorate General of Aviation Regulation of the Civil Aviation Authority, it is said that the pilots of the aircraft noticed an abnormal decrease in the amount of fuel in it and suspected leakage and leakage of fuel. No evidence of fuel leakage was found after the plane landed.

In addition, the CAA spokesman said that all flight operations at Jinnah International Airport Karachi are running as usual.

Earlier this year, a flight from the Indian capital New Delhi to Doha, the capital of Qatar, made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport due to a technical glitch.

According to civil aviation officials, Qatar Airways flight QR579 was en route from Delhi to Doha when the captain found a smoke signal in the cargo hold of the aircraft which caused the flight to take off at Karachi Airport.

Authorities said the flight, which included 283 passengers and 12 crew members, was parked on runway number one and the passengers were shifted to a transit lounge.

It may be recalled that in 2016, an Indian private airline plane made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport.

Airport Manager Karachi Nisar Brohi while confirming the landing of the Indian plane at Karachi Airport had said that the plane made an emergency landing at Karachi Airport by Pakistani air traffic control after a passenger fell ill during the flight from New Delhi to Doha.

After getting permission to land, the Indian Airlines plane landed at Karachi Airport where Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) doctors examined the Indian passenger.
