UAF Arranged an International Goat Mela

Farrukh Ijaz won the first position with a weight of 327 kg

The goat mela arranged at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad has concluded.  It was arranged by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UAF and the International Goat and Bull Association.

The goat of Farrukh Ijaz (Gujranwala) won the first position with a weight of 327 kg, while another goat of Farrukh Ijaz with a weight of 296 kg stood second and Rashid Melsi (Multan)’s goat won the third position with 296 kg weight.

In Teddy Goat (Pure and Cross) competitions, Adeel Butt (Gujranwala) goat clinched the first position with 132 kg weight, while Farrukh Ijaz’s goat with 130 kg weight second and Zahid Butt’s (Lahore) goat with 119 kg weight was the third.

In the goat beauty competition, the goat of Barkat Magsi came first, the goat of Sheikh Wasim (Gujranwala) stood second and the goat of Zahid Butt (Lahore) came third. Distributing the prizes,

Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry Dr. Qamar Bilal said that under the dynamic leadership of UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, the university is taking all possible measures to strengthen farmers’ and Agri experts’ ties.

He said that the International Goat and Bull Association gifted the best breed of buffalo to UAF which will be used for research purposes also.

Chairman of the Association Ata Gujjar, said that in the heavy goat contest, the first position holder was awarded Rs. 700,000, second place winner Rs. 300,000 and third place winner Rs. 150,000.

He said that UAF has always been striving hard for the promotion of agriculture and solution to the problems of the farmers. These competitions are meant to promote the best breeds of animals.
