According to media reports, the announcement was made by the Prime Minister during a meeting with industrialists and businessmen of Karachi at the Chief Minister’s House in which important issues of the economy and proposals for tackling the current challenges were discussed.

After addressing the meeting for about half an hour, the Prime Minister invited the traders for suggestions and questions, some of which were promised immediate orders, and others were reviewed.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office after the meeting said that announcing the immediate abolition of the 17% duty on solar panels, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a mandatory solar geyser policy for every household.

In a statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that at present Pakistan’s oil import bill is $ 20 billion, which can be reduced only by promoting solar energy. I have great potential for alternative energy resources.

Zubair Motiwala, president of the Platform Businessmen Group, which represents Karachi’s industries and businesses, said the prime minister’s approval came after a proposal by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said that the Prime Minister also agreed to consider the appeal of the traders for a proper supply of gas to the industries of Karachi and sought a way to meet the demand of the domestic consumers without compromising on their needs.

Zubair Motiwala said that it was clear to the traders and industrialists of Karachi that the facility should be provided by the government and we would definitely play our role and do our part.

He said that therefore the Prime Minister is a positive signal not only announcing GST exemption on solar panels but also promising that the recent decision to ban imported goods would not affect the importers who have already booked its order and paid their vendors.

I have asked the Ministry of IT to Empower the youth and increase its exports to $ 15 billion.

Stressing the need for the construction of IT towers across the country; the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a transparent and integrated policy for the establishment of export industrial zones, which would provide free land to exporters through one-window operations.
