Netflix, the world’s largest streaming website, hinted at launching its first original web series in Pakistan six years after its launch.
Netflix launched the service in late 2016 in a country with a population of over 220 million and has so far released several Pakistani films and dramas.
The popularity of streaming websites in Pakistan has increased over the last few years and in view of this trend, Netflix has hinted at making the first Pakistani original web series.
Entertainment journalist Hassan Kazmi revealed to sources in his tweet that Netflix has approved the creation of the first Pakistani web series.

The journalist declined to give further details about the web series, saying that the web series will probably consist of three seasons and 13 episodes in each season.
According to him, Netflix has also approved a huge budget for Pakistan’s first original web series. Several people commented on his tweet, calling the news the best for the Pakistani showbiz industry.
Many people expressed doubts on the journalist’s tweet and asked him what are the sources of news? To which he replied that he would soon give a full explanation in this regard.
During the comments, he also clarified on the question that the story of the web series will not be written by Umairah Ahmed nor will it be derived from Shahid Hamid’s novel.
Hassan Kazmi also clarified the question that the said web series will not be the Pakistani version of the Turkish series.
The journalist did not elaborate further on the web series, but it is expected that more details will emerge in the next few weeks.
Netflix has not aired any original Pakistani web series, movies or shows in the last six years, while the website has made several web series and movies in neighboring India.
