Apple TV Plus’ Ted Lasso won Best Comedy at the world’s most prestigious Emmy Awards 2021 for television while streaming site Netflix won Best Drama for The Crown.

Amy’s 73rd Annual Awards Ceremony took place on September 19 in Los Angeles in the traditional style that was held online last year due to Corona.

Netflix holds the record for most Emmy Awards in a single year with 44 awards, according to Reuters, before Viacom CBS Inc.’s CBS Broadcast Network in 1974.

The awards won at Sunday’s event live streaming services new rights that they can use to promote a new offering to their viewers who are looking for quality content online, surpassing traditional TV.

The comedy series ‘Ted Lasso’ won a total of 7 awards for the Apple TV Plus, a streaming service introduced by the iPhone maker two years ago.

In the same series, Jason Sodecas won Best Comedian for his lead role as a passionate American coach in an effort to boost the resolve of a struggling football team in Britain.

Accepting the awards for the comedy series, Ted Lasso’s executive producer and co-star Bill Lawrence thanked the Apple team, which also includes Tea Dog.

Since its inception, Apple TV Plus has released dozens of original shows and movies and is trying to compete not only with the most popular streaming site Netflix but also with other major media companies, including Walt Disney Company, A. T&T Inc., and Amazon.com.

All of these companies and others are spending billions of dollars to expand their streaming services.

HBO, which is now being sold to Discovery by AT&T, has long dominated the Emmy Awards but has been replaced by Netflix.

Netflix has never won an Emmy Award for Best Series before. At the ceremony held yesterday, the streaming site won the Best Limited Series award for ‘The Crown’ as well as ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ for an orphan, based on the story of a child becoming a female chess champion.

Executive producer William Horberg thanked Netflix for winning the Limited Series award, saying you did the rarest work of the day, took a chance on risky content, and trusted the filmmakers.

HBO Network and streaming service HBO Max won 19 awards for their shows in “Mir of East Town” and “Hex”.

Disney’s streaming service Disney Plus has won 13 awards for “Wanda Vision”, “Mandolorine” and other programs.
