Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the concerned authorities to finalize short, medium, and long-term strategies for the development of the information technology sector.
The Prime Minister chaired a meeting in Islamabad on the development of the IT sector in the country and stressed the need for early implementation of the strategy.
The Prime Minister said that there are immense opportunities in the IT sector in Pakistan and the government is taking steps on a priority basis to hire IT professional’s especially freelancers.
Highlighting the importance of special technology zones in the country, he said that the establishment of such zones would pave the way for development in the IT sector.
Imran Khan said that various challenges have emerged during the epidemic but it has also created innumerable opportunities for IT professionals to work from home.
The Prime Minister was informed that Pakistan has the potential to earn $ 5 billion in foreign exchange in the IT sector, but due to lack of facilities and lack of discipline in this sector, foreign exchange is far below its potential.
