Educational institutions in 7 cities of Punjab, including Lahore, have been declared closed for two weeks because of increasing cases of Coronavirus. Shafqat Mahmood said that the spring holidays would start on Monday.
While addressing a press conference, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that the corona cases’ rate is increasing.
The burden on hospitals is also increasing due to the increase in corona cases; administrative agencies should follow smart lockdown.
He said that it has been decided to close the amusement park at 6 pm. The ban on eating inside restaurants will be maintained, and the policy of outdoor dining in restaurants will continue.
Shafqat Mehmood said that it has been decided to close educational institutions in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Multan, Rawalpindi Sialkot for two weeks from March 15.
Educational institutions in all these cities will remain closed till March 28. The decision will apply to all educational institutions.
The ban will not apply to schools with examinations. The schools in which examinations are taking place will continue.
The Federal Minister for Education said that 50 million children go to schools, colleges, and universities for education. Educational institutions will also be closed in Islamabad, Peshawar, and Muzaffarabad.
The situation in Corona in Sindh and Balochistan is still acceptable. Children will come to schools with 50% attendance. The situation in Gilgit-Baltistan is also better.
On the other hand, according to the latest figures from the National Command and Operations Center, 43 people died from the Coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 13,324. The number of confirmed cases of Corona in Pakistan has reached 595,239.
In the last 24 hours, 1,786 new cases were reported in Punjab, 1,79,654 in Sindh, 2,60,150 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 74,433 in Balochistan, 19,141 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 4,959in Islamabad, 46,229, while 10,673 cases were reported in Azad Kashmir.
So far, 93,18,038 people have been tested across the country, 39,425 new tests have been done in the last 24 hours, 565,216 patients have recovered so far, while 1,664 patients are in critical condition.
In Pakistan, 43 people died from corona daily, bringing the death toll from the virus to 13,324. 5,629 patients lost their lives in Punjab, 4,442 in Sindh, 2,122 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 512 in Islamabad, 202 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 314 in Azad Kashmir.
